Your time aboard Anaconda III can be as relaxed or adventure-packed as you like! Choose to snorkel, scuba dive or do both! SAMPLE ITINERARY *weather permitting
Every trip itinerary aboard Anaconda III is unique. Our experienced Master of Vessel must take into consideration a number of factors such as tide, weather and mooring availability. Given perfect conditions please see our itinerary:
DAY 1 – Departing from Abell Point Marina at 7pm on Tuesdays & Fridays the adventure begins!
Enjoy the thrill of sailing* (*wind dependent) under the stars making your way to your overnight anchorage. Your Skipper will find a calm, protected bay to enjoy a night's sleep.
DAY 2 – Whitsunday Island, Whitehaven Beach and Hook Island
After breakfast your crew will take you to Whitehaven Beach Southern End. Enjoy relaxing on the white silica sands or take the moderate walk (approx 30 minutes) to the Southern Whitehaven 'look-out' where you can take in breath-taking panoramic views of Pentecost Island, Haselwood Island and the tropical waters of the Whitsundays.
Returning on board Anaconda III for lunch and taking in the scenery as you sail* (*wind dependent) the length of Whitehaven Beach passing other islands heading towards the top of Hook Island. Once at the destination (usually Luncheon Bay) the crew will prepare you for all in-water activities. This is the most ideal time and location to give scuba diving a try for the first time and for certified divers with our experienced dive guide showing all the best that this underwater region has to offer.
After an afternoon full of water activities it’s time for a late afternoon snack as we make our way to Bait Reef on the world famous Great Barrier Reef for the evening meal.
DAY 3 – Great Barrier Reef
Enjoy a day of sensational snorkelling, scuba diving, sun and food! All of this whilst at the heart of the World's largest living organism, the Great Barrier Reef! With so much to be seen, you will find yourself having a hard time getting out of the water! Bait Reef is the primary GBR destination for Anaconda III, offering numerous top dive sites, unparalleled to anywhere else in the World. Wind down the day with some great food, crisp drinks or perhaps for certified divers a night dive?
DAY 4 – Hayman Island
Depending on conditions and timing, Anaconda III will sail* (*wind dependent) from Bait Reef to Blue Pearl Bay at Hayman Island either the morning of day four or the previous night. Either way, you will get the chance to visit this Whitsundays 'fish bowl'. Whether snorkelling or scuba diving, you will be overwhelmed with the number and colours of tropical fish and other marine life that populate this bay. Don't miss the crew's fish feeding which often attracts Elvis, the large Maori Wrasse who dominates the region - probably the biggest and most friendly fish you've ever seen!
Keep those eyes peeled as there's always the chance of spotting dolphins, turtles, sea snakes, sharks and possibly even humpback whales (July - October) during the two hour sailing* (*wind dependent) journey leading you back to Abell Point Marina, where our journey finishes.
All scuba diving activities on board are conducted by a specialist premier dive company. If you are not a qualified/certified diver but would like to experience the thrill of SCUBA diving the fully qualified, professional instructors will be happy to introduce you to the amazing underwater world and it's colourful inhabitants. For those with a love for the underwater world and the serious diver we can offer multiple dive packages on a combination of both the Whitsunday Islands best fringing reefs and Great Barrier Reef, your designated Dive Instructors will discuss your options during your first evening on Anaconda III.
